sysdba database consulting GmbH
has founded a fund in 2007
which supports highly talented children who live in difficult social situations.
The purpose of the fund is to encourage children…
who have shown that:
- they are especially smart
- they are highly motivated
- they do not give upjust because the world is injust
…in order to help them to keep up with their comrades at school
who may come from more wealthy families.
In the year 2007 sysdba has donated brandnew laptop computers
to two children in Germany:
Felix Kerndl ![]()
is 13 years old and lives with his two sisters and his mother
in a small city in south Germany.
The last years were very hard for Felix and his family
after his father has decided to separate from his wife
and leave the family with a minimum income.
His favorite subject in school is LATIN
and he is eagerly training with his typing trainer program.
Felix plays the piano.
Birte Jahnke
is now 20 years old. She is the first member of her family who has ever achieved to get the permission to study at a university. This makes her very proud.
At the age of six she has started playing the violin and
has managed not to give up although she did not have the money for lots of lessons.
She learned a lot on her own and started volunteering in a lot of cultural projects
during her school time.
Her mentor at the Bochum Music School Mr. Norber Koop ,
who is also the leader of the Bochum Symphonic Youth Orchester,
has managed to encorage Birte not to give up and keep on practicing
by supporting her with free lessons in Viola.
Today Birte is a member of multiple classical orchestras
and has managed to get two!! seats at one of the best
conservatories for the Studies of Music in Germany.
She starts studying Music for Viola and Musical Education
this month (Oct. 2007) although she lacks any monetary support
from anybody at the moment.
Only because the family of a former school mate allow her to stay at their home
it is possible for her to study.
Hopefully she will have a scholarhip soon!
And hopefully the brand new laptop will help her to ease the hard time she is having a little.
In the year 2008 sysdba has supported a young artist in Cairo:
Ahmed Usama (Mido)
Mido is a brilliant young artist living in Cairo.
He is 28 now and is painting whenever he can (which is almost always) on almost everything he can get hold of, like pieces of old wood, walls and almost everything he finds. You can look at his artwork in the web here: http://esmiahmad.deviantart.com/
I have chosen to support Mido with a set of 150 pastel crayons of the best quality available and a large block of the finest pastel papers, hoping that this will launch his carrier, because he has shown that he never gives up his ideals and always keeps a smile on his face which is so lovely.
Keep on painting the world MIDO!!
In December 2008 sysdba has supported Robert Steiger in Hamburg:
Robert is 26 years old now and lives in Hamburg Wilhelmsburg, a district with a very high percentage of underprivileged people, many of them coming from Africa, Poland and Turkey.
In his childhood and youth Robert had to go through really hard times being locked away in youth borstals and other total institutions for children. He has managed to complete his school anyway and has not given up to fight for himself never giving up his personality.
In the last years Robert has spent a great deal of his energy fighting against the infamous prison for children established by the ultra conservative senator of justice Kusch in Hamburg, who finally had to resign from his office after massive protests against his outragious brutal policy. Of course this and his permanent speaking up for hsi rights and the rights of chilren has put Robert into a lot of trouble with Hamburg authorities.

Robert has been volunteering since years for a local inititive which helps street kids to survive by supporting them and defeding their right.
At the moment Robert tries to complete his education as a streetworker which we have decided to support by providing him with a voucher for a two week trip to Malta including an english language program with 20 lessons/week, travel ticket and accomodation.
We hope that this will boost Robert’s career and pay him back a little of his effort he put into his engagement and encourage him to carry yon fighting for his and other peoples’ rights in a more and more brutal and commercialized society.
Wow, very admirable, Lutz. You combine activism on broader social/political issues with a very direct, personal campaign of helping/sharing. What a wonderful thing to do.
SF
Wow,
People like you are hard to find.
It’s a really good on giving to others in order to support their way-to-goal. You’re very respectful, Lutz.
Cheer you up.
This is very encouraging, wish you all the best Lutz!
you are great. I am having the same thoughts like you. My sister and me also help orphanages.
