I cannot believe it!
I just found a link to my article about flashback any error in oracle 10gR2 on the web.
It leads you to the site of the so called “SQL Server Worldwide Usergroup”.
There you can pay to have access to my article,
which you of course can access for free an my blog, it is right here.
I had written this article for the Swiss Oracle Usergroup Newsletter where it was published at the beginnig of 2006.
Is it legal anyway, to just copy my article? Can I screw them?
If you know anything about the legal situation with such cases pls inform me through this blog by comment or email.
What a strange habit!
These people take my article and try to make money with it.
I guess that you can find almost any article they have there for free on the web,
but only if you know how to browse the web of course.

I’m with SSWUG.ORG – just wanted to drop you a note that we’re not republishing your article, we’re letting people know about it and sending them to your site to read it. Part of what we do is to find content and make sure our membership knows about it.

THis guy ois a jerk, and he has NO RIGTH to charge people for hyperlinks.
Plus, SSUUG doesn’t look like any “user group” I’ve ever seen. No meetings, no committees, no services to the public. It’s all about Steve making money from his “user group members”.
A couple of years ago I subscribed to this site in order to get access to what I thought was exclusive articles, white papers & scripts for MS SQL Server & Oracle. I thought it was unusual to see Oracle links on a MS SQL User group website.
I was very upset to find out that the information I was paying I could have gotten for free by spending a little time on my own searching the web. I don’t have a problem with this business model IF they would advertise up front that they are nothing more than a collection point for articles, scripts, etc.. from various other web sites.
There are times when I’m in need of some info now and would pay a fee for someone who can point me directly to it so I don’t have to spend my time searching.
I feel that what SSUUG does is unethical because they aren’t what they claim to be – a legitimate user group forum. Does the term “bait & switch” mean anything to Mr. Wynkoop????
